Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear for my treatment?

Most Ayurvedic treatments involve working with oils. You will probably have a thin layer of oil on your skin as you leave so it is best to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little oily.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

In order to minimise paper towel waste you may be asked to bring an old towel and an old sheet with you - single fitted if possible. These may get quite oily but can be washed and reused for future treatments. It is a good idea to bring water to drink after the treatment and on your way home.

Will I be covered during the treatment?

For full body massages you will be covered by towels when possible in order to keep you warm and comfortable. However, as these massages involve long strokes it will not be possible to allow for towel coverage and you will be fully uncovered during the massage.

Will I have to remove my underwear?

You will be asked to remove some clothing but you will not be asked to remove your knickers. You will be provided with a pair of disposable panties but many people prefer to bring an old pair of their own that they don’t mind getting oily.

Can I eat before my treatment?

Do not have a heavy meal right before your treatment. However, it is also important that you are not hungry so plan to have a light snack before you arrive if necessary.

Are the treatments available for both men and women?

All treatments listed are available for women. Unfortunately I am unable to offer full body massages such as Sarvanga Abhyanga, Udvartana, Nabhi Abhyanga and Pinda Sweda for men currently.

What treatments are available during pregnancy?

Unfortunately, currently the only treatment available during pregnancy is the hand massage, Hasta Abhyanga.

What treatments are available post partum?

Although some treatments are not suitable for breastfeeding mums, post delivery treatments such as Sarvanga Abhyanga, Udvartana and Nabhi Abhyanga are very beneficial for restoring tone. A Mukha Abhyanga face massage can also be a very restorative treat for a new mum!

What treatments are available when I have Ama?

Most treatments are contraindicated when there is Ama present. However, there are three treatments which are suitable while you are following an Ama Pachana detoxifying process. These are Sarvanga Abhyanga with Marma Massage, Udvartana and Nabhi Abhyanga.

Where can I park when I arrive?

Unfortunately, there is no parking for clients or students inside the gates of Ananta Yoga and Ayurveda but there is plenty of parking on the street or in the local SuperValu car park. There is a very reasonably priced car park on The Murrough which is just a 10 minute walk.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

If you cannot attend your appointment, please give as much notice as possible as a matter of courtesy so that your appointment can be offered to another client. A 24 hour notice is required to cancel or change your appointment. If an appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice then full payment may be due. In the unlikely event of your appointment being cancelled by me, then a reschedule will be offered.
